Effect of Ketamine on Tourniquet Induced Hypertension

Objective: To compare the frequency of tourniquet induced hypertension in patients undergoing limb surgeries under general anesthesia with intravenous infusion ketamine and placebo (saline infusion).
 Study Design: Comparative prospective study.
 Place Duration Study: Anaesthesia Department, Combined Military Hospital, Rawalpindi Pakistan, from May to Nov 2018.
 Methodology: Total 80 upper lower application were randomly assigned into two equivalent groups. Group A (n=40) received 0.1 mg/kg bolus followed by at a rate 2ug/kg/min while B normal saline its via pump. Systolic blood pressures recorded non-invasive method 30 seconds prior inflation 60 mins interval after inflation. Results characterized using descriptive statistics. Mean standard deviation (SD) used for quantitative variables percentages qualitative variables. The p-value <0.05 was considered as significant.
 Results: Tourniquet found 2 (5.0%) group 11 (27.50%) statistically significant <0.05. Visual analogue scale score slightly higher Saline group, but result not (p=0.32).
 Conclusion: Ketamine reduces occurrence application.
